After The Events Of September 11, It Won't Be Easy To Explain
A Vote In Favor Of Protecting Illegal Aliens.

Renewal of 245(i) will:

• Reward lawbrekers
• Allow illegal aliens to stay in the U.S.
• Further overburden the INS
• Risk giving residency to criminals
• Reduce odds of identifying terrorists
• Compromise national security

National polls show that an overwhelming majority of Americans want to do something about illegal aliens and reduce terrorists' threats. Imagine their disappointment if Congress passes Section 245(i), making it easier for illegal aliens who might be terrorists to remain in the country. But that's exactly what H.R. 1885, which enacts Section 245(i), will do. At a time when Americans are demanding thorough screening of foreign nationals crossing our borders and deportation of visa violators, Congress could actually pass a law that further overwhelms the INS and allows possible terrorists to avoid tougher background checks. Instead of being required to return to their home country and undergo more thorough screening by U.S. Embassy officials, many would-be terrorists could stay here, and slip through the weaker INS process if they simply pay the INS a $1,000 fine. Surely our security is worth more than that.

Before you vote for H.R. 1885 to restore Section 245(i) think about Americans' security and what the voters want, not what's convenient for those who may do us harm.

Protect Americans from those who would do us harm, Vote "NAY" on H.R. 1885.
